Optimising Quake on six old Macs

I wanted to see if a modern build of Quake could run well on six old Macs from 1999 to 2019, how good a per-machine visual stack a 1999 G3 with a Rage 128 could carry, and whether Claude Code could handle the whole optimisation cycle — C, AltiVec, watervis fix, bench rig, build pipeline. Seven rounds in, the answer is yes.
